How we research
- Primary sources first. Council committee reports and decision notices, Planning Inspectorate and Scottish and Welsh Government case pages, and statutory consultee responses come first. Then the developer's own material, then local news, trade press and campaign sites.
- Every fact is sourced. Numbers in square brackets link to the source list at the bottom of each record.
- Claims are labelled. Developers' promises about jobs, investment, energy and water, and campaigners' estimates, are recorded as claims, not facts.
- We show our uncertainty. Where sources disagree, we say so and explain which we prefer. Where we couldn't confirm something, it's listed under "Not yet confirmed".
- We check for overtaken facts. Objections get withdrawn, decisions get appealed and dates move. Each record shows when it was last checked.
Which schemes we include: large proposals (roughly 50MW or more, or about 10 hectares or more, or decided nationally, or with notable local controversy) at any stage from early consultation to appeal, including approved schemes that aren't yet built.
